J Carpenter is a sculptor, installation artist, and poet. She graduated from Rutgers University with a painting degree in 2002. She taught high school and elementary school art from 2002 – 2008 in New Brunswick, NJ, Manville, NJ, and Brooklyn, NY. She was a member Gaia Studio, a collective of New Jersey women artists and social activists, from 2006 – 2008. She is currently a member of the Lost Art Lacers Guild of New Jersey and a regular contributor to The Idiom poetry magazine. She is also a 2009 New Jersey Arts Council fellow. J works and lives in Jersey City, NJ.
